Arts Forum grant
Stonehaven Folk Festival got a very welcome boost to their fundraising last week with the award of a £1,000 grant from Kincardine and Deeside Arts Forum. The grant is to help support the overall Festival, and in particular for some of the community events and workshops. Festival Chairman Charlie West said: “The Festival is not directly funded by any central body and so relies on Sponsorship and Funding support like this to underpin its own fundraising and ticket sales. Support by the KDAF is a good endorsement that they appreciate the contribution the Festival makes to the arts and the community in general.”
The award came just as the Festival was about to announce some of the headlining acts for 2012, this coincides with the start of the biggest Scottish Folk Festival – Celtic Connections, in Glasgow. The full line up is still to be finalised but organisers are very excited to confirm that they will have some top acts including Four Men and a Dog from Ireland and Hom Bru and Brian McNeill from Scotland. Festival organiser Isla Duncan said: “We have been trying to get Four Men and a Dog and Hom Bru at the Festival for many years so when we managed to align their availability with the Festival dates it was all go to book them as soon as we could”.
