Stonehaven teenager chosen as youth legacy ambassador

A former Mackie Academy Pupil has been chosen to play a major role in the run up to the Glasgow Commonwelath Games 2014.

Stonehaven resident Sarah-Louise Milne is one of Aberdeenshire’s Youth Legacy Ambassadors for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Young Scot have recruited Youth Legacy Ambassadors from all over Scotland to play a major role in the run up to 2014. She will help inspire and engage young people in Scotland to get the most out of hosting the Commonwealth Games and hopefully leave a lasting legacy.

Sarah said: “I’m hoping to organise local events around are four legacy themes Active, sustainable, flourishing and connected which will bring the local authority together from Peterhead as far as Aboyne”

Sarah already does a lot in Stonehaven with her role of helping at the Edinburgh International Cultural Summit in August last year.

She has also been helping launch Glasgow’s bid to hold the Youth Olympics in 2018.

HEROINES

She said: “ I have been quite lucky to have so many chances through being a youth legacy ambassador, which have given me more confidence. I’ve even met two of my sporting heroines, Dame Kelly Holmes and Katherine Grainger.
