ABERDEEN International Youth Festival (AIYF) extends its artistic web to the Woodend Barn in Banchory soon to bring your budding singers and dancers a Workshop Week plus not-to-be-missed performances from some of the best international participants at this year?s youth festival.

On Monday August 1 at 7.30pm folkloric troupe Albroz Dance Company from Jordan will appear in an evening performance alongside Israeli dance group Guf Rishon. Inspired by their rich cultural heritage, Albroz showcases the skills of youngsters between the ages of 10 and 17 years, dancing traditional Circassian dance. Israeli dance troupe Guf Rishon demonstrate their colourful and contemporary interpretations of original dance and serves as a vehicle for empowerment and self-realization for young Israelis.

Krayon Kids from Oregon present an exciting Vaudeville-style variety show on Tuesday August 2 at 7.30pm, ranging from comedy and puppetry, to dance and drama.

On Wednesday August 3 at 7.30pm, Hamrahlid, a mixed choir from Iceland share the very best of Nordic choral music. Their performance will include a blend of traditional Icelandic folk songs as well as original compositions by international composers such as Bach, Handel, Vodnansky and Orlando di Lasso.

Burundian cultural group Akiwacu Folklore and Ghanaian Adzorwo Music and Dance Ensemble are skilled tribal performers, remarkable singers and percussionists. They join forces on Thursday August 4 at 7.30pm in what is sure to be a exciting, rhythmic and athletic evening performance.

All groups will be hosting a workshop on the morning of their performance, from 10.30am to 12 noon. Whilst no previous experience is required, the Hamrahlid workshop is suitable for ages 5+ and all other workshops are suitable for ages 8+.
