The creators of The Singing Kettle, Cilla Fisher and Artie Trezise have announced that their forthcoming Christmas Tour would be their final stage appearance and at the same time unveiled exciting plans for the future of Scotland’s Favourite Children’s Entertainers.
After more than 30 years of shows all over the UK and abroad to places such as USA, Oman, Hong Kong and Jordan. Husband and wife, Cilla and Artie feel the time is right to introduce new blood to continue the huge success of the Singing Kettle brand.
Cilla said. “we have had an amazing journey to arrive at this point and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. This isn’t the end of the Singing Kettle, it’s the beginning of a new chapter”.
Cilla and Artie plan to continue their involvement with the Singing Kettle and will take on backstage creative roles. Cilla will continue to write songs for future productions while Artie will produce the stage show as well as direct the dvds and cds. The other existing members Gary Coupland & Kevin Macleod will be joined by a new female member for the new tour starting in March next year.
Artie explains, “the 2013 tour is already set up and the new show is being developed. It will be called “Rumble in the Jungle”. The process of recruiting starts next month when we plan to have auditions. It’s a new challenge for everyone and we are all really excited about the opportunities it brings”.
The Singing Kettle has grown from being a small show for children, touring playgroups and schools, to one of the biggest box office draws in the UK. They continue to perform around 200 shows per year and are now playing to children and grandchildren of their original audiences.
