For the first time in over a decade, professional wrestling returns to Stonehaven next month with a fun-filled evening of family-friendly wrestling action.

The stars of the Aberdeen-based WrestleZone promotion will engage in bone-crunching, muscle-bending combat at the Town Hall on Saturday, August 6 in what is sure to be a great mix of sports and entertainment.

As part of the event, there will be a fundraising raffle in aid of the Town Hall Trust as they attempt to raise £500,000 to carry out repairs on the historic building.

And the WrestleZone grapplers are ready to make their debut in Stonehaven a night to remember – and for one wrestler in particular, the event could be the pinnacle of his career.

Until two months ago, Bryan Tucker (26) had never won a professional match. But after picking up his first victory in Aberdeen in June, the “Rookie Sensation” has now been granted a title opportunity and will face Damien for the sport’s top prize in the main event.

For Tucker, he would love nothing more than to win the Undisputed Championship on a night when professional wrestling makes its long-awaited return to Stonehaven.

He continued: “Opportunities like these do not come along too often, and I aim to make sure that I am in the pole position to win this match.

“I have always had faith in my own ability, but to wait two years for my first win was difficult. But now I have that monkey off my back, I feel I have gone from strength-to-strength in the ring and am now ready for this opportunity.

“No doubt this is the biggest match of my career, and winning the title would mean the world to me. Damien is a tough opponent, and every time I have been in the ring before, he has come out on top.

“But we are making history in Stonehaven and I hope to cap off WrestleZone’s debut in the town by becoming the Undisputed Champion.”

Tucker was the first graduate from the WrestleZone’s training academy, and now stands on the cusp of winning the sport’s top prize.

It could be a real zero-to-hero story and Tucker is sure that he is ready to shock the wrestling world and defeat the current champion Damien.

He continued: “If I can win this match, it will no doubt be the finest moment of my career.

“But I’m not getting too carried away. Preparation is key, and I am looking forward to standing inside the ring, with the support of the audience behind me, and we will see what happens.

“It is great that we can bring wrestling back to Stonehaven, particularly in such a magnificent venue as the Town Hall. What is for sure is that all the wrestlers will do their best to make sure that everyone will leave wearing a smile on their face.

“Hopefully I will have one two – as well as a shiny championship belt around my waist! But in all seriousness, wrestling is back in Stonehaven and I am not the only one who is very excited about that.”

The championship match will headline a night of supreme wrestling action. Also at the event, Sterling Oil will defend the Tag Team Championships against the “Tangerine Dream Team” Los Cystos and fan favourite Shawn Johnson will take on Dundee’s James Midas.

Stonehaven will also witness the return to the WrestleZone of high-flying Irishman Bingo Balance, as he faces up to masked grappler Blue Thunder. Also scheduled to appear are Scotty Swift, Zach Dynamite, Crusher Craib, Johnny Lions and many more.

The event is pay-at-the-door only, with entry priced £10 for adults and £7 for under 16s. Doors at the Town Hall open at 7pm with the action getting underway at 7.30pm.
