Beautiful weather graced Stonehaven last Saturday when Stonehaven Open Air Pool opened it’s doors for the 80th season.

The Queen’s representative in Kincardineshire, Lord Lieutenant Carol Kinghorn, officially opened the pool after being welcomed by Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster, Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee Cllr Isobel Davidson and Chair of the Friends of the Pool Mike Robins.

Splasher, The Friends of the Pool’s cuddly dolphin mascot made an appearance, while Newtonhill Pipe Band entertained outside the Pool entrance until 11am.

Lord Lieutenant Carol Kinghorn said: “I have many happy memories of swimming in the Stonehaven Outdoor Pool where I learned to swim as a child many years ago. It, therefore, gives me particular pleasure to be opening the pool on its 80th Anniversary.”

The Pool will be open daily until September 7 from 10am until 6pm at weekends and 1pm until 7.30pm on weekdays.

Once peak season arrives on June 28 there will be longer weekday opening, midnight swims and also more kids’ fun sessions.
