A PUBLIC meeting will be held on Monday to identify community uses of the former Stonehaven Radio Station site.
The meeting has been organised by Stonehaven man Alistair Maclean who has been in touch with the property's owners Telereal and hopes they will sell the land to a community group for a fixed price.
Mr Maclean said he now hopes to form a team to dis
cuss options with Aberdeenshire Council.
"A key requirement is to have a viable business plan concerning the operation of the buildings and ensure that they generate sufficient income for a sustainable future," he said.
"The project when completed is expected to employ about six persons in catering, reception and tourism trades.
"Community ideas from the public meeting and input from Aberdeenshire Council planning department concerning the listed radio station buildings will form a draft work scope given to professional advisors."
Mr Maclean said funding from Heritage organisations will enable a feasibility study of the building proposals to be undertaken by a professional architect, a chartered building surveyor and an accountant.
Based on the completion of an acceptable study report the intention would be to form a Building Preservation Trust which is a special charity with the ability to access funding from government and lottery sources."
And to demonstrate the value of the volunteers, he has calculated a £30,000 pound contribution could be made towards the building modifications by a 25 person team of volunteers working for about fifteen days.
Anyone willing to be one of those volunteers, or to help Mr Maclean with his project is asked to attend the meeting at the Community Centre, Bath Street, on Monday November 12 at 7.30pm.
