A TEENAGER from Laurencekirk who hopes to raise money for a charity close to her heart will join single mum fundraiser Zoe Spalding on her sponsored jungle trek in Cuba this October.
Hannah McAllan (18), who works as a care assistant in Stonehaven, decided to join the expedition after hearing about Zoe's plans to raise £3000 for Aberdeen Foyer.
Hannah will be raising cash for The Archie Fund, which offers support and medical ca
re to patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
The cause is important to Hannah as her older brother Norman died five years ago, aged 19, after suffering from the condition from the age of 8.
She said: "When I heard what Zoe was doing I immediately expressed an interest. I wanted to do something for charity too. Fundraising is completely new to me but I have decided to support a really good cause."
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and a chance for me to really make a difference."
Like Zoe, Hannah aims to raise £3,000 for her charity, and is looking for sponsorship for her trip to Cuba.
The girls recently held a 'ladies night' at Diva's nightclub in Stonehaven, and Hannah has organised a tea and coffee morning on May 31 at Mowatt Court nursing home in Stonehaven, where she works.
As well as this, Hannah says she is looking for business sponsors who will help her reach her goal.
She said of her upcoming jungle trek: "I'm really excited but a little bit scared. It will be so exciting to see new things and experience new challenges. It will be like nothing I've ever done before."
HANNAH MCALLAN, who will take part in a jungle trek this October in memory of her brother.
