This year will see pupils and staff at Mearns Academy make the move to the new, purpose-built school campus in August.

A pupil-led management group at the Laurencekirk school are busy organising an open day andcoffee morning for June 14 to commemorate the closure of the current building.

To support this event, they are looking for willing members of the local community to help out.

If you would like to be involved, please advise the school by phone on 01561 378817.

They are also looking for old school photographs which would be displayed around the school during the weeks leading up to the closing ceremony and for visitors to view during the open day.

If anyone has photographs of their class, sporting events or trips during their school days throughout the history of Mearns Academy, could you take them along to the Laurencekirk Community Centre, who have kindly agreed to scan them. The photos can then be taklen away again.

Pictured are some of the photographs which have already been submitted to the group.

If you have anything similar, get in touch!
