Get ready for Aladdin next week as the Ury Players put on their latest panto in Stonehaven Town Hall from Wednesday.

The cast have been busy rehearsing for months now as they get ready to entertain Kincardine and Mearns.

The last time the Ury Players performed Aladdin was back in the year 2000.

Aladdin is sure to be a favourite among panto fans who will hear the tale of Aladdin and Princeess Jasmine.

The event posting on Facebook says: “This traditional pantomime tells the story of the evil Abanazar who has discovered there is a magic lamp hidden in a cave near Peking, but only one who is pure of heart can retrieve it.

“Poor Aladdin is tricked by Abanazar into going to the cave where he frees a genie from the lamp and finds his wishes granted.

“However, he soon finds that the evil Abanazar has other plans for him, the lamp and for his love Princess Jasmine.

“Aided by his outrageous mother Widow Twankey, not so bright brother Wishee Washee and Jasmine’s father the Emperor they set off on an adventure to save the Princess, with some fantastic musical numbers along the way.”

Curtain up 7:30pm (with additional 2:30pm Saturday matinee).

Tickets £10 adults, £8 concessions. Available from The Rose Bowl, Barclay Street, Stonehaven from November. For group bookings please email uryplayers@hotmail.co.uk.
