A Beavers and Scout club in the Kincardineshire area is on the verge of shutting down after a lack of volunteers coming forward.

The Aunchenblae Cub and Scouts Group are calling for 1st Leaders, as the current ones are stepping down at the end of this academic year after six years in the role.

If a replacement isn’t found the Group will have to disband. No previous experience as a Scout is required.

The current Cubs Leader, Denise Bird, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as leader with Auchenblae Cubs, but it is time for someone else to take over the role.

“Being a leader is a genuinely fun and rewarding experience, and there’s lots of support available from the Scout Association and parent helpers.

“I’d urge anyone who enjoys the outdoors and has some experience of working with children to consider becoming a leader; it would be a real shame for the Group to fold after running so successfully for over six years.”

Group chair Andy Turner said: “The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all have a very active membership, with around 20 children attending each group.”
