Aberdeenshire Council will be setting its budget in February 2013 for the 2013/2014 financial year and is giving residents the chance to share their views and ask questions.

Three public events are being planned across Aberdeenshire, involving the Leader of Aberdeenshire Council, councillor Jim Gifford, other senior politicians and Aberdeenshire Council Chief Executive Colin Mackenzie.

They will be present and mixing with groups to hear views and suggestions for how the council should be prioritising its spending for next year and future years.

In addition to the public meetings, two further online ‘question time’ sessions will be held with the Council Leader.

Cllr Gifford said: “It is important that the council engages with communities as part of the budget-setting process.

“We want to outline our approach to setting budgets, hear public views and to answer any questions people may have about how money is allocated.”

The public events include one at Lairhillock Primary School in Netherley on Monday, December 3, 7pm-9pm.

The informal events will begin with an update on the council’s financial position, and developments since the last round of public engagement events.

There will then be a chance for group discussion before an open question and answer session.
