this year has been Portlethen and District Pipe band’s most successful year ever as the group celebrate winning an impressive 36 trophies.

Pipe Major of Portlethen and District Pipe band, Julie Brinklow, said the band are “delighted” with their success.

She said: “we are more than delighted with this season, 36 prizes with 29 of them carrying silverware. This consistency of progress is undoubtedly due to having hard working management and hard working, committed band members.”

Along with winning a bumper haul of prizes, Portlethen and District Pipe band have been up to some other exciting things this year.

The Pipe band were invited to be the Lead Band at Glamis Castle for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, an event attended by over 24,000 spectators.

Julie said: “It was a brilliant day and we were able to fly the “Porty Flag” and our Sponsors names to huge audiences.”

They also took part again in the Schutzenfest in Haus Dulmen, Germany. The 175th Anniversary was a glitzy affair.

This was the bands 15th consecutive year at the Schutzenfest.
