The Burns Quoir resumes after the Easter break with the AGM, followed by a Sing-along, on Thursday April 18 at 7.30pm as usual, in the function room of the Drumlithie Hotel.

During the break the Quoir was delighted to participate in the Concert in Gourdon Village Hall on Saturday April 13 in aid of funds for the newly renovated Maggie Law Maritime Museum. The Concert was a lively celebration, with music, song and poetry featuring Gourdon’s long-standing affiliation with the sea and fishing. The Concert followed the official opening on Friday 12 April of the refurbished Museum, a labour of love masterminded by Project leader, Dave Ramsay, ably assisted by Gourdon villagers and other committed folk from further afield. The Museum will operate as an information and education centre and resource as well as a visitor attraction, preserving Gourdon’s fishing and sea-faring past and its history in sea rescue by both the Surf Boat, the Maggie Law and the various village lifeboats over the years.

The Quoir now looks forward to the new season, commencing with two sessions with guest tutors, followed by some 6 weeks with their new tutor. The Quoir also hopes to be free to participate in the celebratory Summer Musical Event in Kinneff Old Kirk on June 14, organised by the Church’s Preservation Trust. As ever new members will be most welcome and will receive a free copy of the Quoir’s original Song Book. No previous musical experience is necessary – just a love of singing and harmonising!
