Following last week’s story regarding the bus service in Gourdon and Johnshaven, this newspaper has spoken to Stagecoach.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach Bluebird said: “The coastrider X7 route was launched earlier this month as a luxury express route along the coast, serving Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Montrose, Arbroath and Dundee. The route is operated by brand new, high specification coaches to ensure a comfortable coach journey and one which could feasibly compete with the personal car.
“Unfortunately, in introducing a limited stop service we are unable to serve some of the smaller villages along the route, as to do so would limit the ability to provide any kind of fast and direct route.
“Due to the size of the coaches, and previous problems with parked cars and required manoeuvres in some areas, the X7 will not serve all areas of Johnshaven, Gourdon and Inverbervie villages but will operate along the main roads as a limited stop route.
“Also from September 12, we introduced a connecting route, the 107, which operates hourly between Stonehaven and Montrose serving Inverbervie, Gourdon and Johnshaven.
