A famous Stonehaven tourist attraction is embracing technology with a new app that acts as a tour guide and information point for visitors.
Dunnottar Castle launched its app over two weeks ago after requests from visitors for more information on the site.
The app, called Dunnottar Castle, can be downloaded on iPhones and Android devices.
Jim Wands, castle custodian, said he encourages people to download the app before making a trip to the site.
He added: “People have told us they would like to see more information when visiting.
“This way it is less cluttered as we don’t need as many signs.”
As well as details on the castle’s history there is also a map of the attraction.
It also shows users directions to the castle, as many people visiting will be new to the area.
Dunnottar Castle worked with a technology company that developed an unofficial app about Edinburgh Castle.
It features six languages: English, Spanish, Polish, Italian,French and German.
As well as developing the app, Dunnottar Castle is also preparing to launch its newly redesigned website on June 13.
