A steering group has been formed and funding secured for a feasibility study on the development of Stonehaven Harbour.
Aberdeenshire Council representatives, along with members of Stonehaven Town Partnership (STP) have formed the steering group to examine ‘possible long term solutions’.
Funding has been secured from STP, Aberdeenshire European Fisheries Fund Programme, Aberdeenshire Council Harbour Services and Aberdeenshire Council Economic Development.
Wynne Edwards from STP and chair of the Stonehaven Harbour Development Feasibility Steering Group wrote to us this week.
He said: “STP have been examining possible long term solutions for the regeneration, economic growth and sustainability of Stonehaven Harbour which could make it a more vibrant attraction for local people, businesses and visitors alike. Upon completion of the study STP, with the support of Aberdeenshire Council, will engage in a full public consultation process to determine the support there is for the potential solutions given in the Feasibility Study.
“If you have any comments to make at this stage of what you feel the consultant should be including in the study, please forward them to, email@example.com.”
The steering group will be meeting in the middle of October to pick their preferred bidder after a request for quotations has been sent out to contractors.
