THe Friends of Carronhill have received a £500 donation from a group of Freemasons.
Lodge Felix No 355, a group of Freemasons which meets in Peterculter, wanted to donate to local charities which could use the finance in a meaningful way. Members decided to seek applications from interested parties by placing an advert in our sister paper the Deeside Piper. They then decided to make donations of £500 to three good causes.
The Friends of Carronhill received £500 towards their projected total costs £35,000 of buying a replacement bus for the children of Carronhill School in Stonehaven. This was considered a worthwhile cause as the school caters for children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and other children who have both physical and learning disabilities, as result many cannot walk and would be unable to attend the school.
1st Aboyne Guides received funding towards their forthcoming trip to Abelboden in Switzerland to help their 36 Guides make the trip of a lifetime. They have already raised £3,000 and hope to have £5,000 in total, thus enabling them to kit out the girls in the same clothing and pay for an excursion up the Jungfrau.
Finally the group Supporting Children In Learning For Life used the £500 which they received to buy badly needed books for their children. The group provides extra support to children who have physical, emotional and learning difficulties in Banchory and the surrounding area.
