A charity games event was held in Newtonhill in May in memory of popular local man, Roddy McDonald, who passed away last year.
His friends decided to hold a games weekend in his memory and to raise money for a bench for Roddy as well as donating money to charities which supported him through his illness.
The event raised £2,031 in total and £400 of this will go towards the memorial bench, £400 will be donated to Portlethen Health Centre as Dr Miller supported Roddy in his last months and the remaining money, £1,231, will be donated to the MacMillan Cancer Support Charity who also supported Roddy.
The early rounds of the games were held in both village bars and the finals were played in the Quoiters bar in Newtonhill which included Pool, Darts and Dominoes.
The winners of the competitions were; Pool - Ross Buchan, Darts - Ian Towe and Dominoes- Brian Stewart.
