A special charity evening is to take place next month, to pay tribute to one of Stonehaven’s most prolific fundraisers, Mark Anderson.

Mark, who ran the Market Bar in the town with his wife, Lorna, helped to raise over £100,000 for the maxifacial unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary before he sadly died earlier this year.

A major contributor to the cash he managed to raise was the annual fancy dress day at the Market Bar, and it is this theme that has inspired the upcoming ‘Marknificent 7’ evening at Stonehaven Town Hall.

Organiser Chris Stirk said: “The best way to pay tribute to Mark is by raising funds for the maxifacial unit, which he was dedicated to. This is an important year to keep the fundraising going, especially as Mark is no longer with us.

“Mark loved the Magnigicent Seven, so we are creating a saloon in the town hall and asking everyone to come along dressed as cowboys, Mexicans, Indians or saloon girls.

“We want to try and give the charity a big boost.”

There will be a disco, as well as live music and a bit of line dancing too. The evening is planned for Saturday, June 14, and tickets, which cost £10 each, are available in advance from the Market Bar or Ma Simpsons.
