Charity skydive plan

TWO Stonehaven business-people have decided to take the plunge and face their fears - by jumping 10,000ft out of a plane to raise money for charity.

Nicola Aitken, Designer at Fusion Hairdresser, and owner of local shop Castle Trophies Niall Menzies decided that they wanted to take on a difficult challenge to raise money for CLIC Sargent, and since they are both scared of heights, they settled on a skydive which will take place this Sunday (March 11) at Strathallan in Perthshire.

Friends and family will be travelling down with the pair to cheer them on, and they hope to raise as much as possible for the charity, which provides support to children and young people with cancer.

Niall, who has previously taken part in a firewalk to raise money for CLIC Sargent, said: “We both have a fear of heights and we thought this would be a good way of facing our fears!

“It’s not going to be easy for us to do, and I am very nervous about it. But CLIC Sargent is such a worthwhile cause, they do tremendous work for families and I particularly wanted to support them because they do such a lot of good work in this area.”

Niall, who has raised over £300 so far, is hoping to make his target of £500 and is taking sponsors at his Ann Street shop.

Nicola has raised £300 so far through the generosity of clients and friends. If you would like to sponsor Nicola please do so at Fusion Hairdressing Barclay Street Stonehaven or online at virginmoneygiving.com/nicolaaitken.

CLIC Sargent provides many services to youngsters with cancer and their families, including clinical, practical and emotional support, financial support including grants and benefits information.
