Child porn offence

AN AUCHENBLAE man has admitted to downloading thousands of indecent images of children.

Father-of-three Martin Love (38), of Dellavaird, Auchenblae, appeared at Stonehaven Sheriff Court last week where he admitted downloading more than 5000 images. Forensic computer specialists found that 94 of those were deemed to be in the most extreme category, inlcuding the involvement of an animal.

The court heard that Love’s IP address had been used to download images featuring mainly six to 12 year-old girls.

Love also pleaded guilty to distributing indecent photographs of youngsters. The offences occurred between January 2007 and January 2009 at Polbare Close, Stonehaven.

Procurator fiscal depute Eilidh Wright told the court that Love had also distributed several images via an instant messaging service.

She said that in online chat records discovered by officers on Love’s computer he had been asked by another user “What are you into?”. Love replied: “Everything, but no babies.”

Defence counsel Louis Moll said the images were “in the main” all deleted and had not been filed away.

He told the court: “They were more for personal use on a temporary basis.”

Mr Moll added that his client was in a “committed marriage” and described him as a “hard-working man”. He added: “He has already taken proactive steps to address this behaviour.”

Sheriff Peter Hammond told Love he will be placed on the sex offenders register. He said: “You have pleaded guilty to a serious matter involving images of children. You will be placed on the sex offenders register.

“The length of time you will remain on the register will be decided when you are sentenced.”

He will return to court for sentencing on October 28.
