Christmas fundraising festival for Stonehaven Sea Cadets

Stonehaven Sea Cadets Parents & Supporters Association are holding a Christmas Fundraising Festival in aid of their new HQ project.

This will comprise their annual Christmas card delivery, the collection boxes having been out locally from the beginning of December.

Last collection date will be next Thursday, December 18.

There will be a charge of 40p per card. Delivery will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, December 20 (2 – 4pm) and morning of Sunday, December 21 (10am – 1pm).

Collection boxes are situated in the following locations: Kirkton Garden Centre, Royal British Legion, The Harbour Hut, McHardy’s Butchers, Bowling Club , Viewmount Council Offices, Co-op, Arduthie Road and Co-op, Redcloak.

Alternatively, cards can be handed in to Sea Cadet Unit Headquarters, High Street, on Monday evenings between 7 – 9pm.

They do respectfully ask that you clearly address any cards for delivery and that they are only for the local Stonehaven area (within walking distance). The Sea Cadets work on an honesty box policy, so if the correct money could be put into the delivery boxes, along with your cards, that would help them greatly.

However, they will no longer deliver cards with incomplete addresses, or for addresses outwith the local area. In previous years, due to these reasons, they would have posted such cards with the Royal Mail, however, owing to the large increase in postal charges, they will no longer be able to do this.

Fundraising will continue on Saturday, December 20, from 10am when the local Sea Cadet Band members will be on the Plainstones, Market Square, Stonehaven, playing a varied selection of music, including some festive tunes for the local people to enjoy while doing their Christmas shopping.

This is a very recent and successful addition at Stonehaven Sea Cadets.

A number of cadets have travelled all over the country this year, playing at various events with the Northern Area Sea Cadet and Tri-Service Bands.

Finally, in conjunction with the Lions Club, the Sea Cadets will be helping Santa’s Sleigh visit local residents around Stonehaven.

Santa will be out and about during the week from next Monday to Sunday, December 15-21, bringing some festive cheer round the local area.
