Stonehaven Choral and Friends will be holding their annual Christmas Concert in Stonehaven Town Hall on Sunday, December 13 at 7.30pm.
Ralph Jamieson, chorus conductor, has compiled an exciting programme of Christmas music including carols old and new. The evening begins with several pieces from Handel’s Messiah, a real Christmas favourite, with tenor Paul McKay, a member of the chorus, singing the solos Comfort Ye My People and Ev’ry Valley. Later in the programme three other choral members,John Balsillie, Zana Cohen and Rona Rose will also be singing solo pieces,
Included in the programme is a choral suite from the opening scene of the Walt Disney musical Frozen as well as a selection of Christmas choral music and as usual the audience will have the opportunity to join with the chorus in singing some traditional Christmas carols such as Once in Royal David City, Hark the Herald and O Come all Ye Faithful.
This year the chorus is delighted to join with the Banchory Morris Men. Morris dances are traditionally done to songs, including carols, and in keeping with this, the chorus will accompany the Morris Men who will perform all three types of Morris dance.
Tickets are available from members, Giulianottis and at the door on the night and cost £10 or £8 for a concession and include a glass of wine or soft drink before the concert.
