Coffee morning and jewellery valuations

Auchenblae Guild is to hold a coffee morning in the village hall from 10am until noon this Saturday, March 22.

As usual there will be a savoury produce takeaway stall, book stall and raffle.

As an additional attraction, Auchenblae resident, Kate Mathews has kindly agreed to provide jewellery valuations!

Kate has been dealing full time as ‘Quinney’s Antiques’ since 2008, but is now studying gemmology with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

She has already passed the foundation exam which entitles her to use ‘Cert GA’ and is now midway through the diploma exams which will hopefully see her an ‘FGA’ - fellow of the Gem-A by summer - the most respected gemmology qualification worldwide.

A spokesperson for Auchenblae Guild said: “With these excellent credentials it goes without saying that we are greatly indebted to Kate, who, by the way, is the busy mother of twin two-year-olds, Jessie and Isla.

“So, if you’ve ever wondered if that old brooch, ring or locket has any value, other than sentimental of course, come along and get Kate’s opinion on its worth.

“Donations for the service can be made to Auchenblae Guild funds.”

Entry for Coffee, Scones and home-bakes is £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for primary school children.
