After 10 years in command of Stonehaven & District Sea Cadets, A/Lt(SCC) Kevin W Morris RNR has stepped down as Commanding Officer of TS CARRON.
In a farewell message, Kevin said: “Well ‘that’ day has finally arrived, my ten years in command has simply flown by and it’s time now time for me to step down from command of the UK’s Best Sea Cadet Unit. I hope during that time I have made my own little contribution to our great Unit.
“I thank you all most sincerely from the bottom of my heart for the best wishes, wonderful send off and gifts you gave me on Monday evening.
“During the past decade there have been so so many highs, far to many to mention, including 10 burgee’s, 8 national boating titles, the 50th anniversary celebrations, the Commodores Cup, the new Colour presentation, the inception of the RYA Training Centre and our affiliation to British Rowing. Brilliant memories which I will treasure with me and be proud of for the rest of my life.
“Upon reflection there have been very few lows but the way that this entire Unit reacted to the tragic loss of AC Martin Thomson and to the passing of the most important person in the Unit’s history LtCdr AG Mitchell MBE RN is testament to the family atmosphere and team spirit that exists in TS CARRON.
“I would like to pass on my best wishes to the new command team, SLt(SCC) Sean Fraser RNR and PO(SCC) Ali Reid, as they pick up the mantle and the challenge to keep our Unit at the very top and with all of our continued support I am utterly convinced that future successes will come our way.
“To the staff, cadets & juniors it has been a honour and a great privilege to command you all. I simply ask that you continue to do what you have done to date, what you do best and what this Unit has done for over 50 years and that is to work hard, dedicate yourself to the task in hand and bring further accolades to Stoney Unit. Remember ‘This is not just any Sea Cadet Unit, this is Stonehaven Sea Cadet Unit.’ Never forget that.
“I wish you all the very best for the future. God speed TS CARRON.”
The current First Lieutenent SLt(SCC) Sean Fraser RNR has stepped up to Officer in Charge with A/PO(SCC) Alistair Reid appointed as First Lieutenant.
