A Newtonhill couple have reached a mile-stone in their marriage as they celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
Mr and Mrs Daun celebrated sixty years of marriage on March 22.
The couple met when Mrs Daun was a waitress in the Marine Hotel in Muchalls.
After a year and a half they were married in Portlethen Parish Church and set up home in Newtonhill where Mrs Daun was raised. Mr Daun was originally from Portlethen.
Prior to retiring Mrs Daun was cleaner at Newtonhill School for 22 years and Mr Daun was a bus driver.
Since getting married in 1952 the couple have seen their family expand to include one son and two daughters.
They also have four grandchildren and have recently welcomed the addition of three great-grandchildren.
The couple received a telegram from the Queen congratulating them on their sixty years along with lots of cards from well-wishers.
They were celebrating with family with a meal last Friday.
Mrs Daun explained that there was really no secret as to how to make a marriage last for sixty years.
She said: “ There is not really any secret- just get on with married life. We have had our ups and downs but mostly ups over the years.”
