A St Cyrus couple decided to celebrate their Diamond Wedding anniversary by helping others and rather than asking for presents, asked that their friends and loved ones make a donation to Inverbervie medical centre.

Margaret and Tom Slesser, who met in Ellon, celebrated their 60 years of marriage with a party in St Cyrus Hall, but instead of getting gifts they asked for donations to be made to the Inverbervie Medical centre.

Mr and Mrs Slesser described their Diamond wedding party as “wonderful” and explained how they were joined by over 80 family and friends who danced the night away to help the couple celebrate the landmark in their marriage.

This raised over £500 for the practice and allowed them to buy digital thermometers for all of the rooms along with other medical equipment.

Mrs Slesser explained that they decided it was a nice way to help the practice.

She said she would like to thank everyone who made a donation.

Mr and Mrs Slesser met when Margaret was 20 and Tom was 22 at a dance in Ellon. During their 60 years of marriage they have seen their family grow. They have four sons and now also have eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
