A Stonehaven father is preparing to cycle 190 miles in just four days to raise money for the neo natal ward where his son was treated.
Greig Morrice and his partner, Yvonne Campbell ,became parents in February when their son Lennox was born 10 weeks premature, weighing just 2lb 11oz.
He was cared for by nurses in the neonatal ward at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, and is now thriving at home with his family.
Greig wanted to give something back to the ward and staff who, he says, he “can’t praise enough” for the care his son received.
Along with Richard Coventry, he will leave Fort William on the morning of September 25, and aim to arrive at Stonehaven harbour on Sunday the 28th.
He said: “The journey usually takes seven days, but we are going to attempt it in four, staying off road as much as possible.
“The staff were absolutely impeccable at the neonatal unit. After some ups and downs with a few scares along the way Lennox is now a 12lbs bruiser. This has only been made possible due to the amazing care he received at the ward. I can’t praise them enough for the job they do.”
Through his Bike4Babies fundraiser, Greig has already raised £2500 for the Friends of the Special Nursery.
He and Richard will be joined on the adventure by Andy Byars, who will complete part of the gruelling ride.
