LOCAL man Allan Dickson is preparing for a strenuous cycling challenge in order to raise money for Fettercairn Primary School.
Allan will take part in the Kinross Sportive on April 28 which is a 68-mile cycle ride in Fife.
There are three routes in the challenge and Allan will be taking the second hardest which is the red route.
The route is described as being suitable for experienced cyclists and can be used as a stepping stone for more strenuous challenges in the future.
As a Parent Council member, Allan is hoping to raise over £400 which will go towards a new IT suite within the school. It is planned that the IT suite will also benefit the community as a whole. He said: “The reason I chose to do this challenge in particular is that it allows you to raise money for whatever cause you like.
“Although the entry fee will go to the challenge’s chosen charity, I will be raising funds for the school.”
Allan’s cycling challenge is one of many fundraising initiatives put together by the Parent Council in order to raise money for the new IT suite.
Allan said: “We have made a school calendar including all the dates for the upcoming year using pictures by the children.
“We have also made a cookbook which tied in with a soup and sweet evening which we held in late Autumn and there are other various things that we have been doing to raise money for this project.
“Fettercairn is just a little school, with a nursery class and two composite classes, so we are just doing anything we can do to help.”
Allan says that he is just over halfway to his fundraising target for taking part in the challenge but any sponsorship will be gratefully received.
