A Newtonhill couple have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Jim and Ina Donald, who are both originaly from Aberdeen but have lived in Newtonhill for 30 years, celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 22.
The couple met when they were 15 years old in Middle School and were then married in 1953 at the Registrars in Aberdeen.
Since tying the knot their family has grown and they have two sons and a daughter, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
They celebrated their diamond wedding with their family at the house of one of their sons and said they had a “lovely day”.
The couple are well known in Newtonhill and they built and ran Quoiters bar in the village.
They received a telegram from the Queen to mark the occasion of their special anniversay .
When asked what their secret was to a long and happy marriage, Mrs Donald explained that they go well together.
She said: “We have got a good mix, and it is about give and take - you have to work at it through the good and the bad.”
Mr Donald added that they were still friends which was very important.
