A STONEHAVEN couple celebrated sixty years of wedded bliss last week.

The happy couple, Bruce and Nettie Whitehall, marked the diamond occasion last Thursday (April 4) quietly with a spot of afternoon tea, as they had already had a big celebration with all of their friends and family the previous week.

The couple met at a dance in Stonehaven Town Hall and were married in Glasgow, but they returned to the town for their honeymoon and it remained a place close to their hearts, as they chose to retire to the town some years later.

Bruce’s own parents had also honeymooned in Stonehaven and Bruce had learned to swim in the local pool as a boy.

Nettie and Bruce went on to have three daughters, and they now have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
