park inconsiderately in Stonehaven on Hogmanay/New Year’s morning and you run the risk of having your car impounded.
That was the message of the police officer who attended last week’s meeting of Stonehaven Community Council.
The officer said that police were working with the organisations involved in the Hogmanay celebrations to manage parking.
They have a vehicle recovery scheme which could be invoked for instances of inconsiderate parking.
Stuart Alexander raised the issue of parking down at the beach, saying that on bonfire night, cars were parked on both sides of the road, restricting access to Cowie, which could be dangerous if an ambulance needed to get through.
The officer said that there was likely to be a surge of people leaving the town at the same time, but he was confident that their traffic control measures would work.
