Two local schools took part in a regional performance competition, with Mackie Academy coming in fourth place over all.

Mearns Academy also took part in the Be Best Your Best Rock Challenge, which took place in the AECC on Saturday, April 23.

Mackie Academy performed The Hunted; a show of animals being the victims of man’s greed.

Judges of the show said the not only ‘visually stunning’ but that they ‘helped portray their theme of hunting with clarity’.

Mearns Academy addressed the theme of body image; representing Anorexia as a monster.

Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Cllr George Adam, was present and “loved all the performances”.
