Stonehaven will take a major step towards it’s own dialysis unit thanks to a £100,000 donation from a local farming family.

This generous donation is a major advance towards delivering the new Renal Dialysis Unit.

Ronald Gammie and his three sons Norman, Douglas and Alastair, when negotiating the sale of the wind development at Easter Tulloch, requested that a donation was made to a local health charity over and above the community fund. On hearing about the dialysis unit at Stonehaven, the family felt this would be the most appropriate cause that would benefit the Mearns and Stonehaven community.

Dr Ann Humphrey from Stonehaven Dialysis Unit Fund Trust commented: “Having a dialysis unit in Stonehaven will make a huge difference to the patients who require treatment each day. We are very grateful to the Gammie family for their commitment, which has given enormous support to the capital part of the business case. The next step is the Business Case being presented to NHS Grampian’s Asset Management Group which meets later this year.”

Eneco, which owns and operates Tullo Wind Farm, will later this month unveil the wind farm extension on the Gammie’s land.
