Councillor Alison Evison was at Tescos in Newtonhill recently along with other volunteers asking shoppers to make donations to the FareShare campaign.
FareShare is a charity which fights poverty and the causes of it by redistributing surplus food to food banks, homeless shelters and other groups supporting people in need. Tesco was adding 30% to the total given by shoppers at the weekend.
Alison Evison commented: “The number of people needing emergency food supplies in our area is unfortunately growing.
“I am working with a team to set up an emergency food bank which will cover Kincardine and Mearns. We are keen to find people who would like to help with this. Please get in touch if you could volunteer in any way.”
