Ex-teacher faces trial for fraud

A FORMER Aberdeen teacher appeared at Stonehaven Sheriff Court facing charges of fraudulently claiming thousands of pounds in benefits.

John Forrester, 49, who quit as a music teacher at an Aberdeen Academy in 2005, allegedly falsely claimed £2,537.85 of the mobility component of the disability living allowance between February 28, 2010, and February 22 this year.

Mr Forrester pleaded not guilty to the charges.

An interim appearance was scheduled for September with a trial set for October.
