Excitement is building in Gourdon, as the date of the second Gourdon Art Fair approaches.
The fair, which will be held this weekend Saturday and Sunday May 30 and 31 at Gourdon Village Hall, is a fund raising event in aid of Mearns Creative Community Fund and the Maggie Law Maritime Museum.
The Mearns Creative Community Fund is an initiative set up last year by local artist, Jacky Niven to provide funding and opportunities to support creative enterprise.
Jacky said: “We hope the MCCF will provide a platform to create opportunities for local artists to help local artists and the creative community,”
The MCCF have been busy in the past twelve months having supported artists’s collective “The Gourdon Girls”, developing plans to create dedicated art space in Gourdon and running a volunteer recruitment drive to ensure the reopening of the Maggie Law Maritime Museum after a brief period of closure.
Jacky wishes to extend a special thank you to the team at Milltown Community in Arbuthnott who undertook the project of building the bespoke display booths for the event. She wishes to highlight one of the many great things that are happening there.
She added: “Milltown run workshops that refurbish handtools for Self-Reliance enterprise that sends kits of refurbished tools to artisans and schools in Malawi. They would welcome donations of tools to support this project” For more information regarding Milltown Community please contact firstname.lastname@example.org”
There will be 14 local artists taking part in this year’s art fair which will be open from 11am until 4pm. There will be a great variety of artworks on display and for sale.
