Stonehaven Fireworks display is over for another year with the Roundtable putting on a fantastic event on Sunday November 1.
The club has contacted the Leader this week to thank the public for their support.
Hundreds if not close to a thousand people were at Mineralwell Park on Sunday to see the bonfire and display.
Andrew Guthrie from the club said: “The Stonehaven and District Roundtable would like to thank the public for their kind generosity and continued support. Again we were lucky with the weather and we had another superb event. There are only six active roundtablers involved in the planning and preparation of the event.
“The event could not have been possible without the kind support on the night from the Rotarians, Lions, 41ers, Rugby mums, friends of the table, Mearns FM , Aberdeenshire Council, and our local Police, and above all respect and our appreciation to our sponsors who support us with, supply of plant and equipment, storage facilities , supply of wood, and trucks to ease logistics. A special recognition goes out to the 4th Stonehaven Brownies and Stonehaven After school Club for the delightful guys that were created for the bonfire.”
The display was run solely by the Roundtable this year which is made up of volunteers who give up their time to plan and prepare the event.
Andrew added: “Yes we charge a small fee for the event, however we do incur costs, Fireworks, First aid, Police, fuel, and ALL monies raised is given back out to the community via charities and groups. The table is always seeking volunteers and if you are keen to give up one day a year to help, we will welcome you with open arms.”
Mearns FM used the event to test out some new equipment and were in fine form on Sunday.
Chairman of Mearns FM Peter Greig said: “Mearns FM was once again asked to take the lead in the Stonehaven Firework display and we were all excited in the Mearns FM Team as we were getting to try out our new sound system which we purchased from the money received from the Hill of Aquhirie Community Fund.
“The six speaker system was just what we needed for the overall coverage to give our best performance on the night and a huge thanks must go to all the Volunteer organisations who took part in making the Display surely go with a bang.
He added: “The Firework Display itself was bang up to date as the theme was James Bond and the many themes of the movies but having them all in time with the music made for a great night overall, with the crowd getting into the mood very quickly indeed with lots of ooos’ and aahs being heard and as always the kids loved it.”
