Flood fund claim time extended

People affected by the recent storm and flood in Stonehaven are now receiving money from the Flood Relief Fund. Some hardship payments had already been paid however the payments over the last few days, has seen aid going to many more home owners.

The payments have been made to people who completed the claim form and anybody affected by the storm and flood is eligible to make a claim. Feed back from residents has been very positive.

The group has extended the final date for claims until the end of March as it is believed that some people were unaware of the forms and the closing date. Forms are available from the Public Library and the Housing Office in Allardyce Street, Stonehaven.

These payments were made to tenants and homeowners who live in their property to enable them to get back into their homes as soon as possible. Each application was looked at carefully and dealt with individually.

It has always been dependant on how much money was raised as to how much aid could be given.

The Disbursement Group will now look at the business community affected and their claims. This will include private landlords who were classed as a business.

Fund raising events are still to take place so it is hoped more money will be available to enable further aid.

Discussions are on going regarding resilience but it is anticipated that this will be looked at more closely by the Flood Action Group.
