Preparations are now well underway for the 23rd Stonehaven Folk Festival to be held over the weekend of 8-10 July.
Headliners include Julie Fowlis, Session A9 and the Wilson Family plus a wide range of well known and new bands playing at the Main Concerts in the Town Hall and also at some of the sessions and Open Stage events.
In addition to the Main Concerts and Ceilidh there will also be a number of fringe events, including the Plainstones open stage on Saturday and the Cowie Fringe on Sunday. These will showcase many local and visiting artist as well as some of the main stage acts.
There will be more family friendly events this year with two children’s workshops on Saturday and the Cowie Fringe on Sunday.
The traditional World Championship Paper n Comb competition celebrates its 15th Year with a “Wild West” theme, and the Aqua ceilidh will again be held in the famous Open Air Pool on Sunday morning.
Singers will be delighted to hear that Arthur Johnstone and Brian Miller, two stalwarts of the folk revival in the 60/70s will be singing at the Saturday afternoon session, plus Bothy Ballad champion Joe Aitken will be at the Tradition Bearers concert on Sunday.
