The community of Gourdon in Aberdeenshire turned out in force at the weekend to see a new movie that was filmed on their doorstep.

Local people even appear as extras in the film, ‘For Those in Peril,’ which last week received four BAFTA Scotland nominations.

The award-winning short filmmaker Paul Wright attended the screening and commented: “The community here has been amazingly supportive and the very least we could do was let them see the film for free. We can’t thank them enough for all their support.”

‘For Those in Peril’ has been critically acclaimed at film festivals earlier this year and stars rising British actors George Mackay (Sunshine on Leith) and Nichola Burley (Love + Hate, Streetdance 3D), with Scottish actress Kate Dickie (Red Road, Prometheus) playing the mother of the lead character.

Provost of Aberdeenshire Jill Webster said: “There has been strong enthusiasm and support from the local community for this project, including residents, pupils and the community council. We are delighted for our communities that took part in this production that it has received international acclaim, including positive review from critics’ week at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.”
