Stonehaven and District Lions Club, Rotary Club and Round Table have a packed day of fun and entertainment set for the second Harbour Festival.

Taking place this Sunday, August 24, following last year’s successful inaugural event, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.

The money raised will once again be donated towards the New Kidney Dialysis Unit to be built at the Kincardine Community Hospital.

Over £420,000 of a total of £500,000 has already been gathered and the push is on to raise the remaining sum in time for the critical review meeting in October to gain approval for the building work.

To date, the three clubs have already contributed considerable amounts of money towards the fund along with other local organisations.

The group got in touch with the Leader this week and told us: “Building on last year’s programme and success, we hope to bring a bigger and better festival with lots of activities for people to take part in and watch.

“We have been helped by a number of organisations and would like to record our appreciation for their help. In particular Survival Craft Inspectorate, who are now established in the town and have lent lots of practical support.

“They will also be demonstrating the launch of an offshore survival craft something many offshore workers will have seen but not their wives or partners. The RNLI are once again supporting the event and hopefully we will have the three Aberdeenshire Lifeboats in harbour for the first time the first time and perhaps a helicopter.

Another exciting new addition to the programme is offshore skiff racing with boats from Catterline, Portsoy, Colliston and Pittenweem.
