The Maritime Rescue Institute’s Harbour festival will take place on Sunday, August 21.

The Harbour Festival, which last year attracted more than 6,000 visitors, will showcase the work of the MRI’s independent lifeboat crew, who will perform live mock rescues in the harbour to give visitors a flavour of the challenges they face when carrying out search and rescue missions along the Kincardineshire coastline.

On dry land, there will be an array of trade and food stalls, further demonstrations from Stonehaven Fire Brigade and Trossachs Search and Rescue Dogs as well as music from local musicians and Mearns FM.

This year there will be an array of trade and food stalls including Arbroath smokies and hand made chocolates.

For the younger members of the family there will be an inflatable laser, penalty shoot out, bouncy castle, face painting, splat-the-rat plus lots more. There will also be boat trips down the coast onboard the Lady Gail II.

The Harbour Festival will take place from 12pm until 4pm on Sunday, at The Old Pier, Stonehaven. The event is open to all and is free of charge.
