North-east urological cancer charity, UCAN, has received a significant boost from the Rotary Club of Stonehaven, which has donated £1500.
The cash has come from the proceeds of the club’s sporting dinner which was held in March at the Station Hotel, to raise funds for worthy local causes.
Following a visit and talk about urological cancers and UCAN by Debbie Munro, urological nurse who is part of the team at the UCAN Care Centre based at Ward 209, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI), the club decided to donate 50% of the proceeds of the dinner to them.
The remaining funds will be donated to the proposed Dialysis Unit at Kincardine Community Hospital in Stonehaven.
The club requested that the donation should be divided between the UCAN general fund - which benefits everyone affected by urological cancer in the North of Scotland - and the campaign, which UCAN is spear-heading, to bring ‘Robotic Surgery to the North of Scotland’ (RSNS).
