FIFTY years of service to the committee was recognised at the dinner-dance and presentation of trophies of the Glenbervie and Howe o’ the Mearns Ploughing Association held in Auchenblae.

Receiving a gift from his colleagues was Mr George Wilson of Dellavaird Farm, Auchenblae, who joined the Association committee in 1961 and served as president for 15 years.

President Dave Carnegie said the Association will celebrate its centenary in 2017 and it is remarkable to think that George has served on the committee for more than half the time the body has been in existance.

George, who is now Honorary President, remains a senior figure within the Association.

He received a Border Fine Arts figure of a ploughman and his horse from another great servant to the Association, Moira Duncan, who was secretary for 25 years.

There used to be a Glenbervie Ploughing Association and a Howe o’ the Mearns Association, but the two bodies merged some 30 years ago.
