The Horizon group, which is responsible for the floral displays providing vibrant summer colours around Stonehaven, is thanking other “local heroes” who helped brighten up the town this year.

Volunteers from Horizon have been busy all year ensuring the town centre looked its best with hanging baskets and flowers that drew many approving comments.

Horizon group convenor Kath Boyne said: “We’ve been well chuffed with this year’s baskets they really did look superb.

“Lots of people come up and say how wonderful they thought they were. It’s lovely to get such positive feedback for our efforts.”

Kath added that the Horizon group was well aware that many others, who were not part of the group, also worked hard to keep the town looking its best.

“The local Lions helped us hang all the baskets and take them down. And we know there are people who pick up litter while walking their dogs, or who keep their gardens looking beautiful. It all makes a huge difference to the town.

“We’d really like to thank them, and hopfully engage their support for future years.”

Anyone interested in the Horizon group and its work, is invited to join them at their AGM at 7pm on Monday, November 21, at the Invercarron Resource Centre.
