Police Scotland is appealing for information after a number of items have been stolen from a family gravestone at Portlethen Church in Aberdeenshire.
The incidents have occurred between April and September this year. As a result, a number of ornamental items have been stolen with an overall value estimated at a mid-two figure sum.
The gravestone itself has also suffered damage as a result of the incidents.
PC Joseph Smith, who is investigating the thefts, said: “These thefts have caused obvious stress and upset to the family members who visit the gravesite, especially with the items stolen holding particular sentimental value.
“We are appealing for anyone who has visited Portlethen Church cemetery and has noticed anything suspicious to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
