The Kincardine Kickers, a line dancing group who meet regularly in the Station Hotel, Stonehaven, have donated £700 to local charities, from their fund raising efforts.
The Friends of Forest View, a support group for Forest View Day Centre, a service for people with learning disabilities, received a donation of £350 to assist with the social, educational and leisure opportunities for service users.
Arthritis Care, Stonehaven, also received £350 towards their work in the community to support people with arthritis.
Co-ordinator for the Friends of Forest View, Dave Ramsay, said: “This is a tremendous gesture and boost to our new group, and is the first donation from a community group. It is more than just a donation, it is a real vote of community support for people with learning disabilities, and this will go a long way to provide new social, educational and leisure opportunities for individuals and families”
Stephen McIntosh Co-ordinator of the Kincardine Kickers said: “We enjoy what we do together as a group through dancing and having fun. I’m really happy that we are able to give something back to the local community and help other people benefit from our efforts and enjoy life.”
The cheques were handed over to representatives from each of the charities at the Kincardine Kickers line dancing evening at the Station Hotel, on Wednesday.
