MSP for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine, Maureen Watt, has thrown her support behind an Aberdeen carer for an award.
The SNP politician has put forward David Forbes, volunteer chairman of charity Future Choices, for a Local Hero award.
The nomination comes with an invitation to the opening of the Scottish Parliament on July 2 - along with other individuals representing constituencies across the country.
The recognition is during Carer’s Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of the challenges carers face.
Maureen Watt said: “David has done fantastic work, both in his role as a voluntary chairman, and in highlighting the critical role played by carers in Scotland.
“His efforts have not only helped people to access a social group, but also encouraged others to take part in volunteering and charitable work.”
David said: “It is fantastic to be declared a Local Hero and have the hard work of carers in the north-east recognised.
“For nearly a decade at Future Choices I have been raising awareness of the need to provide services.”
